Privacy policy

This policy describes what information Rasoi collects, where it lives, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. Rasoi is operated as a small service; this policy is written to be read, and it describes what actually happens — nothing more.

What we collect

• Account details. When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name and email address.
• Kitchen details, if you're a cook. Your kitchen name, cuisine, description, neighbourhood, and any permit details you choose to enter.
• Order records. For every order: the items, the times, and the amounts, linked to the diner and the cook involved.
• A notification token. A device token that lets us send you push notifications about your orders.

What we don't collect

• Payment details. Rasoi never handles payments. Money moves directly between diner and cook — cash or Zelle — so we hold no card numbers, no bank details, and no payment accounts.
• Precise home addresses. Only a neighbourhood is stored and shown. Exact addresses are exchanged directly between cook and diner when they arrange a handoff, outside the app's records.
• Location data. The app does not currently use your device's location.

Where it lives

Rasoi runs on Google Firebase: data is stored in Firestore, and accounts are managed by Firebase Authentication. This means your information is stored on Google's servers in the United States, under Google's infrastructure security. If you use Rasoi from Canada, your data is still stored in the United States.

Who sees what

• A cook's kitchen name, cuisine, description, neighbourhood, and menu are visible to any signed-in user of the app.
• Order details are visible only to the diner and the cook involved in that order.
• Permit details a cook enters are shown to diners as information she provided. Rasoi does not verify them.
• We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Account and kitchen details are kept while your account exists. Order records are kept while both accounts involved exist, so that cooks and diners can see their own history. When an account is deleted, the information described below is removed.

Deleting your account

You can request deletion of your account and the personal information associated with it at any time. Email privacy@rasoiapp.net from the address on your account, and we will delete your account details, kitchen profile, and notification token within 30 days, and confirm when it's done. Order records you were part of are retained in the other party's history only as required to keep their records coherent, with your identifying details removed.

California residents

If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. The complete list of what we hold is in "What we collect" above — we collect nothing beyond it, and we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@rasoiapp.net.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If a change meaningfully affects what we collect or who sees it, we'll notify you in the app before it takes effect.
